This year is the tenth annivesary of the Angel of the North, built at Hartlepool fabrications Ltd and standing next to the A1 at Gateshead the Angel has become one of the most recognisable pieces of public art not just in Britain but around the world.
It represents the Great North with its arms outstretched in welcome it says "this is home" .
The North, wild, open and free with our Angel looking out for us always.

Just found this blog - great fan of the north east. My last holiday was in Bamburgh in November and was simply stunning!
