The story of the two by elections is that Labour won both Sedgefield and Ealing, albeit with reduced majorities because of lower turnouts associated with by-elections.
The Liberal Democrats did well to finish a very creditable second in both seats.
But the Tories – oh dear!
To wind up in a poor third in both seats is an appalling result for them, after all the main opposition party should be winning by-elections.
And they are now trailing in the opinion polls as well.
It seems that the British public have quickly seen through David Cameron for the lightweight opportunist that he is.
